VW offers ‘Alpine' off-road packs for Amarok V6
To improve the capability of their Amarok V6 ute in rough and demanding terrain, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have introduced ‘Alpine’ and ‘Alpine Plus’ off-road packages.
Released in Q2, 2022, and limited to 100 units each, the Alpine and Alpine Plus packages do not void the Amarok’s 5-year unlimited km warranty, being VW-approved parts, and are available to suit the Amarok V6 Core Auto, V6 Sportline, Highline and Aventura.
Both packages have been developed in collaboration with German off-road accessory specialists, Seikel, who have been a VW Commercial Vehicles partner since 2012.
The Alpine off-road package includes a Koni ‘Raid’ suspension kit that’s made up of 70mm bore Koni twin-tube shocks, fitted front and rear, paired with Eibach springs at the front to raise ground clearance by 25mm.
A cast steel lower retainer for the front shocks, top and bottom plates for the front springs, a pre-assembled front strut unit and rear 25mm spacers with special brackets for the leaf springs, along with additional supports and bump stops, are also part of the Raid kit.
A polyethylene snorkel and wheelarch cladding completes the Alpine off-road package, which is priced at $6,090 (incl. GST) over the relevant Amarok variant’s list price.
The Alpine Plus off-road package includes all the items from the Alpine pack, but adds rock sliders, cladding for the doors and a breather kit for the transmission, transfer case and diffs.
Protection plates for the front and rear diffs, transmission and transfer case are also part of the Alpine Plus pack, which is priced from $12,090, incl. GST.
An off-road tyre kit is also available, using General Tire Grabber AT3 rubber in 255/60 R18 112 H XL size that features large sidewall lugs, stacked deflection ribs that protect the upper sidewall area and protection ribs that shield the tyre and bead from damage. Priced at $1,590 incl. GST for a set of five, this tyre package is only available for the Amarok V6 Sportline and Highline.
