4x4 FOR SALE
Here’s a recent arrival at Reliance Car Sales:
2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited
- 3.2-litre petrol V6
- Nine-speed sports automatic
- On-demand four-wheel drive
- Selec-Terrain off-road modes
- Leather seats, panoramic glass sunroof
- Low 88,061kms

With styling that was considered very controversial when new, but now seems tame and perhaps even mainstream, the ‘KL’ Series Cherokee was a world away from the ‘KK’ Series it replaced. Where the KK Cherokee had a boxy shape and bluff front end, the KL was smoother, sleeker and sharper, with narrow horizontal DRLs (that look like headlights but aren’t) and tail lights. These and other elements reflected Jeep’s increasingly “urban” design approach to their range, excluding the Wrangler, which retained a rugged, off-road-ready look.
The KL Cherokee interpreted Jeep’s signature seven-slot grille in a new way, too, and while alloy wheels were standard, the angular wheelarch openings were large enough to allow for sturdy steel wheels with more aggressive off-road tyres to be fitted, if needed.

Released in late-2013 for the 2014 model year in the USA, the new Cherokee arrived in Australia midway through 2014, with the 2015 version (that was essentially identical) released a couple of months later. Jeep’s aforementioned urban approach with the new Cherokee saw it offered here with two-wheel drive for the first time.
The launch range consisted of the ‘Sport’ with 2WD and a 2.4-litre petrol four-cylinder engine, ‘Longitude’ with on-demand 4WD and a 3.2-litre petrol V6, ‘Limited’ with on-demand 4WD and a 3.2-litre petrol V6 (a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four was optional for 2015), and ‘Trailhawk’ with dual range 4WD and a 3.2 V6.

Engine outputs were listed at 130kW and 229Nm for the 2.4 petrol four, 125kW and 350Nm for the 2.0 turbo-diesel four and 200kW and 316Nm for the 3.2 petrol V6. As fitted to this vehicle, fuel economy from the V6 was listed at 10lt/100km on the combined cycle.
Regardless of engine choice, a ZF nine-speed sports automatic (a first for this segment of the market) was standard across the KL Cherokee range, with no manual transmission available.

While the Cherokee Limited diesel got the ‘Active Drive II’ 4WD system with a two-speed transfer case, the petrol version came with a more basic on-demand 4WD system (without low range) that sent torque to the front wheels, engaging the rears when a loss of traction was detected. While not the optimum system, this was still good enough to tackle challenging terrain with the right tyres fitted.
Supporting this, Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system in the Cherokee Limited offered four off-road modes – Auto, Snow, Sport and Sand/Mud - selected via a rotary dial on the centre console. Approach and departure angles of 18.9 degrees and 25 degrees respectively assist off-road capability, although the Limited lacks the underbody protection and recovery hooks of the Trailhawk.

As the premium variant in the KL Cherokee range, the Limited came with features that were either optional or unavailable on the lower grades, like bi-xenon HiD headlights with washers, 18-inch alloys (with a full-sized spare), front parking sensors, leather seats, a 7.0-inch TFT instrument display, Uconnect 8.4-inch colour centre console touchscreen, Bluetooth phone/audio, an Alpine 9-speaker sound system and satnav.
Additionally, options like a panoramic glass sunroof (as fitted to the vehicle featured), plus luxury and technology “group” packs, were exclusive to the Limited and not available on the lower grades.

Common features across the MY15 Cherokee range included seating for five, power folding/heated mirrors, roof rails, a power tailgate, LED DRLs and tail lights, front and rear foglamps, automatic wipers, cruise control, dual-zone climate control air con, voice recognition, power front seats (with power lumbar support for the driver), in-dash compass, tyre pressure sensor, a multi-function steering wheel with tilt/reach function, electric parking brake, cupholders for both seat rows, a 12V socket and aux/USB/SD card ports.

The Cherokee Limited’s maximum luggage space is 1,667 litres, but this drops to just 700 litres when the rear seats are occupied. Braked towing capacity is 2,200kg and GVM is 2,495kg.
Safety features include ABS, ESC, traction control, rollover stability control, trailer sway control, hill holder, the aforementioned front/rear parking sensors and rear-view camera, plus seven airbags.
This earned the Cherokee the maximum five-star ANCAP rating when new.
Additional safety tech, like lane departure warning, front collision mitigation, blind spot and cross path detection, was available with the optional ‘Technology Group’, which is not fitted to this vehicle.

Finished in Brilliant Black pearl paint, the 2015 Cherokee Limited V6 featured is described as the ultimate choice for those who crave both comfort and adventure. The vehicle appears to be in very good condition overall, with a low odometer reading of 88,061km.
