VW California Beach camper here. . . . and gone
Only 30 units of the T6.1 generation California Beach were allocated for Australia and all were gone within nine hours. Orders were taken from 10AM on 24 June via Volkswagen Australia’s new website with ordering functionality, which also gives customers the opportunity to receive a digital trade valuation on their existing vehicle.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Australia Director, Ryan Davies, was thrilled with the unprecedented result.
“It’s rather fitting that one of our most iconic and successful heritage models ushers in a new way of selling our vehicles. In the changing, often unpredictable world we live in right now, being able to offer customers new levels of flexibility feels like a natural step for the People’s Car Brand.
Our online ordering and trade-in valuation is largely an Australian innovation, and it’s great to see it being utilized by our customers,” Davies added.
While the high-spec California Beach may be gone, some units of the Kombi-inspired Multivan Cruise were still available at time of writing.
Like the California, local allocation of the Multivan Cruise was also limited to 30 units. Interested customers can find out more details and order direct via https://www.volkswagen.com.au/en.html
While orders can be placed now, local delivery of all VW Commercials, including T6.1 Transporter vans, will be delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions on production. Australian-market units are expected from November.
