Updates coming for RAV4
Toyota has announced its RAV4 will be upgraded for the second half of 2022, with enhancements to the top-selling midsize SUV’s multimedia, technology and safety systems.

Headlining the upgrades is the introduction of the latest generation multimedia system across the range that incorporates USB-C connection and the addition of Toyota Connected Services.
All RAV4 model grades – GX, GXL, XSE, Cruiser and Edge - will also feature an upgraded Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance technologies, including Intersection Pre-Collision Safety and Emergency Steering Assist.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said these upgrades would further boost the appeal of what is already one of the most popular models in the Toyota lineup.
"Toyota is always keen to provide the latest safety, connectivity and multimedia technologies that customers want and as soon as they are available for our market, we make them available for our customers," Hanley said.
"This latest round of upgrades for the RAV4 will make what is already the most popular medium SUV even more appealing.”

No mention is made of driveline or mechanical changes with the coming upgrades, so assume the existing 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engines carry over unchanged. Both of these are available in hybrid form on all model grades except the Edge, providing economy of up to 4.7lt/100km.
Transmission options are also unlikely to change with the upgrade, meaning the existing CVT should continue unchanged on all grades except the Edge, which offers a conventional eight-speed automatic and is also the only RAV4 grade to be available exclusively in all-wheel drive form.

While initial reports suggest that the various upgrades will be applied range-wide, Toyota have also said that the updated features will apply to “certain models and grades” within the 2WD and AWD RAV4 range, suggesting some grades may miss out.
"Toyota will continue to keep our customers updated on upgrades and future models and we encourage our customers to speak with their preferred Toyota Dealer about these upgrades," Hanley added.
Pricing for the updated MY22.5 RAV4 will be confirmed closer to local release
