Turbo engine coming for Toyota Kluger
Toyota are set to offer a new powertrain option for their Kluger SUV, with the addition of a turbocharged petrol engine for 2023.

Replacing the Kluger’s existing 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V6, the 2.4-litre turbo four-cylinder will offer what Toyota Australia says is a highly efficient and more responsive powertrain for family SUV buyers.
The new engine employs a newly developed turbocharger, optimised fuel injection system and long stroke to deliver what’s claimed to be excellent response and high output.
Toyota's listed figures are approximately 198kW and 420Nm for the new turbo four compares to 218kW and 350Nm maximums from the outgoing 3.5 V6.

"With superb torque and response, we expect the addition of this strong new engine will make the popular Kluger family SUV an even more enticing prospect for buyers," said Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley.
The 2.4 turbo will be available on 2WD and ‘eFour’ AWD Kluger variants, as well as all model grades – GX, GXL and Grande. The Kluger Hybrid AWD that pairs a 2.5 petrol four with two electric motor generators for 184kW and 242Nm will continue to be offered in 2023.

Along with the new powertrain, the Kluger SUV range for 2023 will gain a number of range-wide updates, including increased safety and convenience features.
All MY23 Kluger variants will be offered with Toyota Connected Services, enabled through an in-built data communication module that can offer valuable safety features including automatic collision notification, SOS emergency call and stolen vehicle tracking.
A 7.0-inch colour multi-information central display replaces the 4.2-inch display on the Kluger GX, while GXL and Grande grades replace their existing 8.0-inch multimedia display with a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Due for local arrival in Q1, 2023, more details and pricing on the upgraded Kluger will be revealed closer to launch.
