PREVIEW – New Age Caravans 2024 Road Owl range

Ahead of the Australian release later this year, New Age Caravans has provided details on their Road Owl range for 2024. Available in two size options, along with standard and off-road variants, all MY24 Road Owls have had a complete interior redesign for the coming year, with a host of new and upgraded features introduced, too.

Four different versions of the 2024 Road Owl will be available, covering 19- and 21-foot length options (both on dual axles), as well as road-focussed Ensuite and off-road Adventurer models. With a choice of double or triple bunk ensuite, the new range is described as ideal for families.

“We’ve put a real family focus on the Road Owl range, with the bunk and ensuite standard in all four models. We think it provides families a fantastic caravan for wherever they want to go in Australia, at any time of year.”

What’s New Inside?

Step inside a MY24 Road Owl caravan and the first change you’ll notice is a redesign of the furniture and lighting, bringing a more modern aesthetic to the interior. Additionally, roof-mounted downlights have been eliminated, replaced with LED strip lighting.

In the dining area, there are redesigned seats, which also feature more cushion depth and lumbar support than previously. The kitchen area has been updated to incorporate a stylish new microwave surround that’s designed to keep the microwave secure, even when travelling over bumpy roads.

Moving the four-burner cooktop to a recessed position has extended the benchtop space and increased the area for meal preparation when the burners aren’t required.

The new interior now also features handy reading lights with three adjustable settings that accompany a new wireless charger for the bedroom area. 

Sleeping space for up to five remains (double bed and three bunks), along with a separate shower and toilet room (with ceramic basin), hot water service, a 171-litre fridge/freezer, microwave and mini grill cooktop. Other Road Owl interior features include air conditioning, LED mood lighting, wireless charging pads and multiple storage lockers.

“The exterior looks fantastic, and the updated interior ensures we are continuing to provide a market leading option at a competitive price,” Polites added.
“The inclusions on the caravan, combined with the options available, means we’ve stepped the Road Owl up a level.”

Tech, Chassis and Safety Upgrades

Both of the rough-terrain Road Owl Adventurer models have had a suspension upgrade for 2024, with Cruisemaster all-terrain XT independent suspension replacing the existing Cruisemaster CRS2 set-up. This is fitted as standard across the range, as is a Walkinshaw-designed, New Age-built galvanised chassis, making the MY24 Road Owl ready for all terrains.

The 19- and 21-foot Adventurers continue to use larger wheels, tyres and brakes than the roadgoing Ensuite version to offer what New Age Caravans calls “semi-off-road capability”. The MY24 Road Owl Adventurers retain their other exclusives over the Ensuite, like a DO-35 hitch, recessed coupling, bolt-on jerry can holders, pull-out double steps, larger bumpers, protective checkerplate exterior lining, an exterior shower, reversing camera and more.

Standard safety features include Bosch Tow Assist Electronic Stability Control to ensure the highest possible safety on the road, while the option of lithium charging for all four caravans in the 2024 Road Owl range caters for those taking their trip off the grid for an extended period.

The MY24 Road Owl range has complete Vehicle Type Approval, in line with the upcoming Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA). The Australian Design Rules (ADRs), which the Vehicle Type Approvals are associated with, are national design rules that mandate safety standards, dimensional and structural requirements, as well as performance and emission targets.

The RVSA ensures that the process of building a New Age Caravan is documented and structured to ensure repeatability during the manufacturing process from start to finish.

Australian pricing

Production of the MY24 Road Owl range git underway mid-year at the New Age Caravans manufacturing facility in Epping, Victoria, with the first units expected on the road in Q4, 2023, priced from $84,390.
