Oz Buggy Tours launches new off-road experiences
A new company, but one backed by 20 years’ experience with premium utility 4x4 buggies, Oz Buggy Tours have created hands-on, interactive and fun off-road tour experiences, and the first facility where these tours are taking place is Landcruiser Mountain Park.
Located less than two hours from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Landcruiser Mountain Park is a 10,000-acre wilderness, camping and 4WD park. The park includes over 200km of off-road tracks, from beginner to experienced level, taking in views of Cowah Falls, the Brisbane River and wild waterfalls. The mix of terrain, from dirt trails to creeks, rocky gullies and river crossings, make it ideal for both first-time off-roaders and experienced 4x4 drivers to enjoy.

Pip Jewson, founder and director of Oz Buggy Tours, said the dream to do this has been years in the planning. “Our Queensland manager, Brad Smits, and I have talked about how wonderful it would be to make off-road locations accessible to those without their own four-wheel drive setup.
“COVID-19 allowed us to bring this to fruition, with a safe, interactive and inclusive experience that, by means of circumstance, lends itself to social distancing.”
The tours are done in Kawasaki Mule PRO-FXT buggies, which are Side-by-Side 4x4 machines that feature automatic transmissions and power steering, so they’re easy to operate, even for inexperienced drivers.

All the buggies are six-seaters, too, so tour participants can choose to drive alone, nominate two drivers (drivers must be fully licensed and at least 17yo) and carry up to four passengers (10yo and older), or take the whole family out. Those not wishing to drive can opt to hire a driver.
Each tour lasts two-hours and a safety induction session for the buggies is included.
In the near future, Oz Buggy Tours say there’ll also be an opportunity to enjoy a tour in an all-new amphibious buggy.
Oz Buggy Tours’ Queensland manager, Brad Smits, says the tours offer an enjoyable challenge: “We had local families out to see if we could provide a safe experience that tested drivers and offered them a new and exciting experience. All of them said that not only would they return, but it offered great value for money and was exactly what they needed following the restrictions of isolation.”

Oz Buggy Tours plan to offer similar touring experiences at other venues in the future, but until then, they advise that bookings for tours at Landcruiser Mountain Park are open now and would make a great Father’s Day gift.
“Oz Buggy Tours are great for dads wanting a day out with their kids, as well as friends and families desperate to head out of the house and take in some fresh air,” Smits adds.
