Orders re-open for Suzuki Jimny 3-door auto
The most popular variant of Suzuki’s Jimny 4x4 – the 3-door with a 4-speed automatic – is now available to order again, with increased production allocation for Australia meaning reduced wait times for local fans of the compact off-roader.

Orders for the 3-door auto were suspended in January, 2023, due to wait times of 18 months or more. The pause did not apply to 3-door Jimnys with the 5-speed manual, or the lower spec, manual-only Jimny Lite.
Although the order books opened again briefly in September, the 500 units in that allocation sold out in less than five hours. In early December, dealers started taking orders again, with no restrictions this time. Suzuki Australia have cited “increased production opportunities” for the 3-door auto’s return.

Although supply for the Australian market has increased, wait times for delivery will still be long - just not as long as the 18+ months that led to the initial halt on orders back in 2023. Orders placed now with Suzuki dealers are likely to be filled in Q3 or Q4, 2024.
"Whilst back orders are still reaching as far as the second half of 2024, we have managed to secure incremental volume that allows us to flick the switch back on for the auto transmission in Jimny,” said Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automobile, Michael Pachota.

The Jimny 3-door will be joined by the 5-door ‘Jimny XL’ this year. The addition of this larger model to the local lineup was confirmed by Pachota at the same time he announced that orders had re-opened for the 3-door auto.
“This ties in perfectly with the exciting launch of Jimny XL to complete our total product offering of the Suzuki Jimny for Australia in 2024."
