New Mitsubishi Triton specs, pricing released
Ahead of its arrival in February, pricing and specs for the new-generation Mitsubishi Triton have been revealed, with dual cab and club cab pickup body styles available from launch, across familiar GLX, GLX+. GLS and GSR grades.
“New-Gen Triton presents another step-change for the Mitsubishi Motors product portfolio,” said Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited CEO, Shaun Westcott.
“Being a core market for the Mitsubishi Motors brand, and with Triton being a core model for Australia, the importance of this vehicle cannot be overstated, and we are very proud to have played a key role in its development.
“The New-Gen Mitsubishi Triton takes the Triton’s essence – reliability, capability, dependability – and significantly enhances them, while adding latest-generation safety technologies, more power and torque, more space, more load carrying capacity and a truly distinctive style.
“[The] New-Gen Triton is another huge step forward for Mitsubishi.”

Bigger, Better
As well as being restyled, the new Triton is also bigger, increasing marginally in all dimensions. Perhaps more importantly, braked towing capacity has increased to the industry benchmark 3,500kg – up from 3,100kg on the outgoing Triton.
New Triton key dimensions – dual cab
Length – 5,320mm (+15mm)
Width – 1,865mm (+50mm)
Wheelbase – 3,130mm (+130mm)
Tray length – 1,555mm (+35mm)
Shoulder Room – 1,479mm (+49mm)
Hip Point – 780mm (+40mm)
Towing capacity – 3,500kg (+400kg)
New Engine
Common to all grades is a new 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder, developing 150kW of power at 3500rpm, with 470Nm peak torque from 1500rpm to 2750rpm.
The new engine is paired exclusively with an updated six-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual gearbox will come later) to produce what Mitsubishi say is exceptional response and low-rev pulling power, along with a linear torque delivery throughout the rev range. Already more fuel efficient than the outgoing engine, the new engine’s fuel economy ranges from 7.5lt/100km to 7.7lt/100km on the launch range. An Auto Stop & Go System further supports efficiency.

The familiar Triton model hierarchy of GLX, GLX+, GLS and GSR remains for the new model, all of which are comprehensively equipped as standard, according to Mitsubishi.
