Jeep releases ‘S-Limited’ Cherokee
The Sport, Limited and Trailhawk grades of the mid-sized SUV carry over for 2020, but the Longitude grade has been deleted, with the S-Limited to be a new premium Cherokee offering, defined by exterior finishes and leather interior trim.
“We are thrilled to offer this new variant to the Cherokee range, enhancing our premium product line-up and giving customers access to a truly sleek, head turning 4x4,” said Guillaume Drelon, Director, Jeep Brand & Product Strategy. “With a full suite of safety features as well as superior finishes throughout, the Jeep Cherokee is a serious contender in the premium mid-size SUV arena.”
Styling and finish of the S-Limited is inspired by the larger Grand Cherokee. Available in a choice of Bright White (pictured), Velvet Red, Granite Crystal and Diamond Back colours, S-Limited features start with body colour cladding for the wheelarch flares, front fascia, side mouldings and sills. The seven-slot Jeep grille is in a ‘Granite Crystal’ finish, with the same treatment on the roof rails, 19-inch alloy wheels (that are exclusive to the S-Limited) and exterior badging. Black window surrounds and a dual panoramic sunroof complete the exterior changes.
Inside, the S-Limited features a black finish for the A-pillars and headliner, while the front bucket seats are trimmed in premium leather with Tungsten accent stitching that’s also added to the door armrests and front console lid. Other features, like the 8.4-inch centre touchscreen, seat/mirror/radio memory functions, digital dash display and Alpine 9-speaker sound system, are as per the Limited.
The S-Limited is powered by the same 3.2-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine as the Trailhawk and Limited, matched to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Outputting 200kW and 315Nm, this is combined with Jeep’s Active Drive AWD system, rather than the off-road specific Selec-Terrain and Active Drive Lock 4x4 system that’s exclusive to the ‘Trail Rated’ Trailhawk
Priced from $52,650 (+ ORCs), the Cherokee S-Limited offers a claimed $3,750 of value for $2,700.
Pricing on all other grades has risen by between $1,500 and $3,000 for 2020, with the 2WD Sport now priced from $37,950 and the AWD Limited and AWD Trailhawk priced from $49,950 each (+ ORCs).
