Ineos Grenadier production has begun
After several supply chain and COVID-related delays, Ineos Automotive completed the first production model of their Grenadier 4x4 on 18 October, marking the occasion with a gathering of all staff at the company’s factory in Hambach, France.

While a small number of prototypes and pre-production test models have been in circulation for some time, including here in Australia, the completion of “Job #1’ in October marks an important milestone in the British company’s vision to bring a vehicle in the mould of the classic Land Rover to market.
The Grenadier 4x4 combines a BMW-sourced six-cylinder petrol or diesel engine with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, full-time four-wheel drive, solid axles and heavy-duty suspension in what’s described as a responsive, well-balanced and fun to drive vehicle.

“We’ve come a long way since the project kicked off in 2017 and this is a landmark moment for Ineos Automotive as a vehicle manufacturer,” said Mark Tennant, Ineos Automotive Commercial Director.
“To get to this point is a testament to the resilience and hard work of the entire Ineos Automotive team, our development partners and our suppliers – for which we thank them all as we now look forward to making our first deliveries to customers.”

The aforementioned global supply chain issues that delayed the completion of the first production Grenadier 4x4 continue to constrain output, according to Ineos Automotive, but initial deliveries are expected from early December. For Australian customers, Grenadier orders opened in May, but units for the local market aren’t expected until early 2023.
Australian pricing starts from $85,500 for the 5-seat ‘Station Wagon’ and $84,500 for the 2-seat ‘Utility Wagon’ that’s configured as a cargo-carrying vehicle. A dual cab ute will be added to the Grenadier lineup in the future, but is not currently available to order.

Ineos Automotive claim to have more than 200 sales and service sites in their worldwide network, including 28 in Australia, biased toward regional areas.
