High demand for Mitsubishi Outlander
Since it went on sale at the start of November, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander has enjoyed strong local sales, according to Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited.

Despite the latest version of the medium SUV carrying a substantial price increase – up to $8,000 – over the Outlander it’s replacing, interest has been high and split across all model grades – ES, LS, Aspire, Exceed and Exceed Tourer – with demand for the premium Exceed and Exceed Tourer grades, which list for $51,490 and $53,490 respectively, far greater than expected. Demand has been so great that Mitsubishi Motors Australia have been attempting to secure additional production for the local market.

“We’re delighted by the fantastic response given to the all-new Outlander, with acclaim coming from Australia’s motoring critics, Mitsubishi dealers and, most importantly, our customers,” said Shaun Westcott, Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s CEO.
“Despite healthy stock levels at launch, interest in new Outlander out of the gate has been unprecedented. We’re doing everything we can to prioritise the delivery of sold orders, and keep our customers informed with the latest delivery information.”

Mitsubishi expect the new Outlander’s success to continue when the Plug-In Hybrid variant is added to the range in the first half of 2022.
Featuring a larger 20kWh battery (up from 13.8kWh), the new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV offers a combined power boost of over 40 per cent and a pure electric range extended from 54km (NEDC cycle) to 87km (WLTP cycle).

All non-hybrid model grades of the new Outlander are powered by the same 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 135kW and 245Nm, with listed fuel consumption of 8.1lt/100km. This is matched to a CVT transmission, now with eight ‘ratios’, and Super All Wheel Control all-wheel drive, although 2WD is also available.
Seven seats are standard on all except the ES grade, with the different grades defined by a higher standard specification, more passenger comforts and additional safety features.

Pricing for the all-new Outlander starts at $40,490 drive away for the ES 5-seater AWD (an ES 5-seat 2WD is unlisted), with local pricing and specifications for the new Outlander Plug-in Hybrid EV to be revealed closer to launch.
