Ford adds ‘Tradie’ edition to Ranger

Ford’s run of Ranger special editions continues with the recent release of the ‘Ranger Tradie’. As the name suggests, this limited-edition is aimed at the working ute market and adds a number of practical features.

Based on the Ranger XL 4x4 dual cab pickup, the Ranger Tradie’s factory-fitted features start with a Genuine Ford nudge bar in black, to which a Lumen 20.5-inch slimline LED light bar is attached.

A set of 16-inch alloy wheels in black are also part of the Tradie package, complemented with a pair of black side steps.

Completing the Tradie fitout is a tubliner and tow bar.

Only available as an XL dual cab with the 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo diesel and six-speed auto transmission, the Ranger Tradie also features the XL’s dual range four-wheel drive system with rear diff lock.

Other Ranger XL features that carry over to the limited edition include the SYNC 3 infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and the FordPass Connect embedded modem. When paired with the FordPass App, FordPass Connect unlocks a range of new connected services including remote locking/unlocking, remote vehicle start and vehicle status updates.

Ford says that, for the Ranger Tradie, this can be particularly handy, allowing owners to remotely start the vehicle and cool the cabin on a hot day, for example. The FordPass App is available for download for Apple and Android devices.

Safety kit is as per the Ranger XL, which like the rest of the Ranger range, is 5-star ANCAP rated.

A choice of two solid colours (Arctic White and True Red) and four extra-cost metallics (Meteor Grey, Aluminium Silver, Blue Lightning and Shadow Black) are available.

The Ranger XL Tradie launched in February with a special drive away price of $47,990 at participating dealers while stocks last. Regular list pricing after that is $52,190 (+ ORCs), with prestige paint a $650 premium. A five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty is standard, with access to the Ford Service Benefits programme - capped-price servicing, loan car, auto club membership and roadside assist - included.
