2006 Nissan X-Trail ST
One of Nissan’s popular models in Australia, the X-Trail offered here is the ‘T30 II’ facelift of the first-generation (identified by the foglamps in the bumper) that came out late in 2003 to replace the original T30 launched two years earlier. ST was the entry level X-Trail grade in 2006, with ST-S, Ti and Ti-L grades above this offering better or additional equipment.
A naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine was standard across the range, meaning the top-spec X-Trail Ti-L got the same 2.5-litre unit producing 123kW and 230Nm as the ST. To improve economy over the factory 9.5lt/100km rating, this particular example has been converted to dual fuel. For RWC, the gas tank has been re-certified and is said to be good for another ten years.
Transmission choices for the 2006 X-Trail included a five-speed manual or, like this example, a four-speed automatic. On-demand four-wheel drive, with ‘Smart Drive’ selection system, was standard across the range, making this SUV capable in mildly challenging terrain.
With seating for five, power mirrors, power windows, air conditioning, a cooled glovebox compartment, 4-speaker sound system with CD player, cloth seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel, the X-Trail ST is well appointed for an entry model. Add roof rails, power steering, ventilated disc brakes front and rear, cruise control, lap/sash seatbelts for all five seats, driver/passenger airbags, ABS and EBD (for a 4-star ANCAP rating when new) and you have a solid package.
This example also has a sunroof.
Measures and dimensions include 15-inch wheels (with a full-size spare), a 60-litre fuel tank, 4510m x 1765mm x 1675mm (LxWxH), a 2635mm wheelbase, 545kg payload and 2000kg braked towing capacity. Luggage capacity is 411 litres with all seats occupied.
