2005 Toyota LandCruiser Prado GX
- 3.0lt turbo diesel
- 5-speed manual

As the entry-level Prado for 2005, the GX didn’t have all the bells and whistles of other variants, like the GXL, VX and Grande, but was still well-equipped. More importantly, it was very capable off-road. That capability has been enhanced on this example with the addition of a snorkel, bullbar, spotlights and a suspension lift. The factory side steps have been deleted, but a towbar and reversing lights have been added. Wheels are the factory alloys, but the spare is an aftermarket Sunraysia-type.
Power mirrors, power windows, power steering, disc brakes, driver/passenger airbags and a 6-speaker CD/MP3 sound system were all standard on a 2005 Prado GX like this one, but ABS and air con were still optional. Grey velour and cloth seat trim was standard in the Prado GX and the interior of this example is in very good condition overall, as are the door trims, steering wheel and dash.
A newer sound system has been fitted, but that appears to be the only non-standard addition to the interior that seats eight while still offering ample luggage space.
The Prado’s standard 3.0-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder engine puts out 96kW and a beefy 343Nm in factory form, with listed economy of 11.4lt/100km on the combined cycle and a 180-litre fuel capacity. There’s no mention as to whether the engine in this example has been modified, so assume it’s factory spec. Transmission is the factory five-speed manual (instead of the optional four-speed automatic) and there’s constant four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case.
Described as being ready to take the family to the Outback, this Prado GX manual can also pull a decent-sized camper trailer there, thanks to braked towing capacity of 2,500kg.
