Ford Reveals Australian Pricing For Mustang Mach-E
Nearly three years after its North American market release, Ford’s all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV is finally coming in Australia, with online reservations opened in May ahead of local arrival later this year.
Ford Australia confirmed back in March that the Mustang Mach-E would be coming to our shores, but waited until mid-May to reveal the model lineup, pricing and approximate arrival date.

In addition to being a new model, the Mustang Mach-E will bring a new approach to access and availability. Instead of contacting their Ford dealer, prospective Mustang Mach-E customers are advised to reserve their vehicle online using the Ford Australia reservation portal.

The online portal requires customers to create an account and pay a $1,000 reservation fee to their selected dealer to secure their Mustang Mach-E.
Choice of Three
The Mustang Mach-E will be offered in three grades for Australia: Select; Premium; and GT. Of these, only the GT offers all-wheel drive, with the Select and Premium being RWD only.
All grades offer seating for five and an underfloor lithium-ion phosphate battery that’s new for 2023 and said to be greener (using fewer rare materials), more durable and better suited to fast charging. Other common features include regenerative braking, Ford’s latest SYNC 4A infotainment system, a 10.2-inch instrument screen and large, 15.5-inch portrait-format centre touchscreen.
Other features include a premium Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system, panoramic sunroof, the ‘frunk’ storage space under the bonnet, ‘E-Latch’ door handles that do away with traditional handles, one-pedal driving and multiple EV connected services under FordPass connectivity.
Safety tech that’s common across all three grades includes Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist, AEB, Reverse Brake Assist, Post-Collision Braking, Evasive Steer Assist and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.
The Mustang Mach-E’s name has been derived from Ford’s long-running Mustang sports car that’s been available as a factory RHD car in Australia since late 2015. Mach-E styling takes cues from the famous “pony car,” too, and includes the signature ‘galloping horse’ grille emblem and three-piece taillights from that iconic Ford model.
Select
The entry-level Mach-E Select produces maximums of 198kW and 430Nm from its single electric motor, while the 71kWh battery allows the mid-sized EV SUV to offer a driving range of up to 470km. Nineteen-inch wheels are standard, as is a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging.
Seats are trimmed in Sensico, a premium artificial leather, with a Black Onyx finish. The front seats include power adjustment.
With families in mind, the Mach-E Select also features top tether anchors on all three rear seats, ISOFIX mounts on the outboard two and a 60:40 split to increase luggage capacity.
Premium
The Mustang Mach-E Premium is the mid-level grade and features a larger 91kWh battery that increases range to 600km. Power is also increased, up to 216kW, but torque is unchanged at 430Nm. Upgrades over the Mach-E Select include LED projector headlights, multi-colour ambient lighting, premium door sill plates and pedals, a black headlining and red contrast stitching on the Sensico seat trim.
GT
The GT is the most powerful unit in the trio, with significantly more torque, too. Battery is the same 91kWh unit as the Premium, but two “performance tuned” electric motors (one per axle) boost maximum outputs to 358kW and 860Nm, but the trade-off is a range reduction to 490km. Covering 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds, the Mustang Mach-E GT will be the fastest accelerating vehicle that Ford has ever offered in Australia.
Being the performance model in the local Mustang Mach-E range, the GT also features Brembo brakes, 20-inch wheels, Pirelli road-biased tyres and MagneRide Active Suspension that not only responds instantly to changing road conditions but also to different driving modes.
To the selectable driving modes of ‘Active,’ ‘Whisper’ and ‘Untame’ from the lower grades, the GT adds ‘Untame Plus’ that’s designed for track use and modifies throttle response, traction and stability controls, steering sensitivity, AWD allocation and more for maximum performance.
Inside, the Mach-E GT gains Ford Performance front sports seats in soft-touch synthetic material as part of a unique interior trim.
FordPass tech
In addition to existing features available for all Ford models under the FordPass connectivity system and related app, EV specific functions for the Mustang Mach-E include ‘Power My Trip’ that allows route planning using sat nav and factors in charging stations, depending on the route and the vehicle’s existing state of charge.
Other FordPass features specific to the Mustang Mach-E include charging logs, battery charge level, charger locations, charge settings and a ‘distance to empty’ calculator.
Pricing
When online reservations for the upcoming Mustang Mach-E opened in mid-May, Ford also revealed local pricing, which will start at $79,990 and rise to $108,990.
The Mustang Mach-E is the trailblazer in Ford Australia’s EV strategy, with at least four other EVs to be released locally by Q4, 2024.
