New Sante Fe has arrived
Dubbed 'Storm Edge', the latest restyle of the Korean company's large SUV was led by Hyundai's North American Design Centre in Irvine, California. According to Hyundai, the interpretation "evokes the impression of irrepressible motion through a unique design concept, capturing the strong and dynamic images created by nature during the formation of a storm", thus 'Storm Edge'.
Signature appearance features on the new Santa Fe include a bold hexagonal grille, low profile roof rails, eagle-eye projector beam front headlamps and sweeping character lines. The interior design continues the 'Storm Edge' theme and the centre stack fascia and controls create a sophisticated impression, reflective of hyundai's move toward the premium-price market.
All models are fitted with rear view camera and rear park assist, plus a flexible seven seat configuration including 40:20:40 sliding and reclining second row seating and 50:50 fold flat third row seats.
New Santa Fe is available in three trim levels - Active, Elite & Highlander - and is powered by an efficient Theta II 2.4-litre GDi petrol engine, or a powerful R-series 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed automatic with electronic sequential manual mode or six-speed manual transmission which achieves an combined fuel economy of 6.6L/100km*.
Mid-level 'Elite' models include a 7 inch touch screen sat nav, electro-chromatic rear-view mirror with compass and premium audio with 10-speaker sound system. Top of the range Highlander models include heated front and second row seating, electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seat and panoramic glass sunroof.
All variants in the range fitted with seven airbags as standard, with standard safety technology including: Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-skid Braking Systemn (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), and Downhill Brake Control (DBC). The new Santa Fe benefits from Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) with 3-mode Flex Steer and introduces Hyundai's Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC) system.
Pricing starts at $36,990 for the 'Active' spec 2.4 GDi petrol manual, up to $49,990 for the 2.5CRDI diesel auto Highlander. Metallic paint is available across all spec levels and adds $595.
The new Santa Fe is supported by a five-year unlimited kilometre manufacturer's warranty and receives all of the benefits of the Hyundai iCare programme, including three years Capped Price Service, three years NAVTEQ™ MapCare™ Plan, up to seven years complimentary Hyundai Roadside Assist, and support from the iCare 24-hour Customer Care Centre.
