Lexus adds ‘Crafted’ to RX
Available on the RX 300 (turbo petrol four 2WD), RX 350 (n-a petrol V6 AWD) and RX 450h (n-a petrol-electric hybrid AWD), the limited-edition Crafted is based on the ‘entry-level’ Luxury-grade of these models, but is defined by the addition of features normally reserved for the higher model grades, as well as styling and detail enhancements.
Key additions include a moonroof, full colour head-up display, 12.3-inch high-definition infotainment screen (upgraded from 8-inch) and a premium 15-speaker Mark Levinson sound system with ‘Clari-Fi’ technology.
Externally, the RX Crafted features black 20-inch alloy wheels and black finishes for the grille, fog-lamp bezels, mirror caps and rear bumper.
Only available on the five-seat RX, the Crafted is limited to just 300 units Australia-wide. The styling and spec enhancements carry a $7,100 premium over the respective RX Luxury base models, starting at $81,351 for the RX 300, $88,521 for the RX 350 and $97,260 for the RX 450h version (all prices exclude ORCs). Premium paint is an additional $1,500.
Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson said the $7K+ price hike places the Crafted approximately halfway between the regular RX and F Sport variants that offer many of the special-edition’s features as standard. Above both Luxury and F Sport, the ‘Sport Luxury’ remains the top model grade on the RX.
"The additional luxury and value of the stylish Lexus RX Crafted will attract a wider audience to a vehicle noted for its practicality, convenience, spaciousness and easy manoeuvrability," Thompson said.
