Holden unveils Colorado 7 at AIMS
Developed in tandem with the Colorado Crew Cab light commercial at GM's Brazil design studio, and using the same mechanical underpinnings, the Colorado 7 offers a full-size seven-seat interior (hence the '7' name) and a chassis configuration specifically designed for its SUV body.
When the Colorado 7 officially goes on sale in December, two variants will be available: the entry level LT and top-spec LTZ.
Standard LT features include:
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- Body coloured front and rear bumpers
- Body coloured door handles
- Body coloured mirrors with side turn signal
- Side steps
- Front fog lights
- Front and rear mudflaps
- Aluminium roof rails
LTZ builds on LT features, with:
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Projector headlamps
- LED tail lamps
- Front fog lights with chrome surround
- Chrome side window mouldings
- Body coloured door handles with chrome strip
- Chrome power folding side mirrors with side turn signal
Safety features common to both models include full-length side impact protection beams, ESC, ABS, EBD, front and curtain airbags, rear park assist, reversing camera and multiple child seat anchor points for the rear seat. In combination, these safety features have earned the Colorado 7 a five star ANCAP safety rating - the highest available. All dimensions are the same across both LT and LTZ, bar ground clearance, with the LTZ's 18-inch boots offering 231mm over the LT's 219mm.
Regardless of LT or LTZ spec, only one engine/transmission combination will be available - the Duramax 2.8 litre 4-cylinder diesel and 6-speed automatic transmission with Active Select function. This is the same powertrain found in the Colorado Crew Cab. The Duramax diesel delivers peak torque of 470Nm and 132kW of power.
With family hauling and load carrying in mind, the Colorado 7 has a 3,000kg towing capacity. Front suspension is via double wishbones, with an independent five-link set-up at the rear and coil springs all round. The five link set-up has been engineered to provide greater stability and performance when towing, minimising trailer snaking and lateral movement.
Inside, the flexible seven-seat layout features up to 30 storage options. Front seat layout is in what Holden call a "dual cockpit" design, second row seating features a 60/40 split, with the third row seats having a 50/50 split. Vents and air con controls are available to both second and third row passengers. Rear storage is 235 litres, which increases to 878 litres with third row seats folded, and on to 1,830 litres with the second row folded.

- USB and auxiliary
