Great Wall adds single cab Steed
Responding to what they say is customer demand, Great Wall Motors have added a single cab-chassis version to the new Steed ute range that was relaunched here in 2016.
To be offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions, the Steed single cab is powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine as the dual cab ute, matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and delivering 110kW and 310Nm. Listed fuel economy is 8.2lt/100km (combined). No auto will be offered at this stage.
The chassis features double wishbone front suspension and leaf spring rear, topped with an Australian-made 2400mm x 1700mm aluminium tray. Listed payload capacity is 1198kg and towing capacity is 1700kg max.
Standard features include ABS brakes (discs front and rear), ESP stability control, hill hold control, 16-inch alloys and TPMS. Cloth-trimmed seats feature inside, as does standard air conditioning and an auto dimming rear view mirror, but that’s about it.
As the new entry-level Steed, the single cab chassis is also the cheapest new ute in Australia at $17,990 before ORCs for the 4x2. ABN holders can drive away in one for just $18,990. The 4x4 version lists at $19,990, excluding ORCs.
Available now, the Great Wall Steed single cab chassis is backed by a 3-year, 100,000km warranty, with 3-years’ roadside assist and 3-years’ service price menu. See your Great Wall dealer for details.
