2016 Mazda BT-50 dual cab chassis
It may not get all the attention and accolades of the HiLux and Ranger, but Mazda’s BT-50 is a sturdy and reliable workhorse during the week that can be taken off the beaten track for some fun on the weekends. In the dual cab, cab-chassis body style with a sturdy dropside tray and numerous upgrades, this example is described as ready for any adventure you have in mind.
The ‘Arma’ aftermarket tray has a chequerplate floor, rear window protection, footpegs at the rear to assist access, lockable storage boxes on each side and Hammerite-style paint to complement the ute’s factory metallic silver finish. The front bullbar has a similar treatment and includes an LED lightbar. This BT-50 also features a bonnet protector and side steps, plus a set of factory option alloy wheels and near-new tyres.
Powered by the preferred 3.2-litre turbo-diesel five-cylinder producing 147kW and a meaty 470Nm of torque, this BT-50’s engine is matched to a six-speed sports automatic transmission (a six-speed manual was also available) and dual range four-wheel drive with easily selectable 2H, 4H and 4L, plus a locking rear diff.
Braked towing capacity is 3500kg (750kg unbraked) and payload in dual cab cab-chassis form ike this example is an impressive 1315kg.
Insid this BT-50, the front and rear seats are accented in leather, there’s climate control air con, power windows, Bluetooth, satnav, central locking, a rear-view camera and more.
