The Murrumbidgee - Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Part 4 of 5

Flexible and adaptable body styles are great for the passengers, but the engineering under the car is what gets you in and out of the most challenging terrain, as well as determining the comfort level of every day driving.

The basic 4WD setting took us everywhere that we needed to go (plus a few places just for the fun of it). As most experienced off-road drivers will understand, you can access almost anywhere in a 4x4 by reducing your tyre pressure and driving in a steady and smooth manner. Oh, and a bit of grunt does not go astray either.

The low range 4WD setting and the push-button sway bar disconnect are clearly great features, but considering what we were able to do with the standard 4WD setting, the Rubicon should be able to climb a tree and ascend a cliff face with these features…neither of which I have the balls to try.

Mind you, we did contemplate a river crossing as 45 degrees in the shade makes for a bloody hot day.  After spending four hours mustering sheep with the sun high in the sky, the kids were absolutely destroyed.  Some local knowledge, a secret track and a little fancy footwork by the Jeep and we were able to access the Murrumbidgee river. Shoes off and straight in the water!
